How to reach Visakhapatnam

Vizag is well connected by Road, Rail, Air and Sea.

Road: The state-run APSRTC buses provide inexpensive connectivity to many places within and outside the state. There are many private buses that operate to Bangalore, Bhimavaram, Chennai (Madras), Guntur, Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Orissa’s OSRTC buses ply from the MVP Colony Bus Depot to different parts of Orissa. The APSRTC has introduced AC buses, called Metro Luxury, to connect Vizag with Vizianagaram, Anakapalle and Srikakulam.

Rail: Being midway between Chennai (Madras) and Kolkata (Calcutta), a number of trains originate or pass through Visakhapatnam railway station. Once the Waltair railway zone becomes a reality, the number of trains and availability of seats/berths should also become a lot better.

Air: Currently, Air Costa, Air India, Indigo, Spicejet, have flights to and from the Visakhapatnam airport. Silkair (which seems to have a codeshare with Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines), Malindo Air and Air Asia are the international airlines connecting Vizag to the hubs of Singapore and Malaysia.

Sea: Vizag has the second largest port, the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. Some ships take tourists to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There are plans to start a cruise to Kakinada (News Article – Vizag-Kakinada Cruise Planned) with an intention to expand further after trying out the proof of concept.
